Recent Past Events
October Monthly Meeting, last Thursday of the month. Last year, Francie Hunt, Executive Director of Tennessee Advocates for Planned Parenthood joined us. Accompanied by local RuCo Action Council activist, Laura Button, Hunt walked 538 miles across TN to advocate for reproductive justice. Their experience was made into a documentary and we showed the film as part of a double feature event! Also showing was a documentary about the “TN 3” and their fight for democracy in the TN Super Majority.
RCDW was a sponsor at BoroPride! We firmly believe in supporting the LGBTQ+ community. We called on community members to join us in “Imagining a Better Tennessee” and created a beautiful interactive art display. By fostering empathy, advocating for equal rights, and promoting social progress, we help bring about a future where folks of every gender identity and sexual orientation are celebrated with dignity and respect. Together, we are working to create a state rooted in a deep commitment to racial, gender, and economic justice. We imagine a Tennessee that embraces equity and inclusivity—a place where every individual who calls this state home can thrive.
Our Youth Fellows worked with Planned Parenthood to organize the Sex & Politics Symposium for TN Action Councils. This unique event brought together experts, advocates, and individuals passionate about exploring the intersection of sexuality and politics. It was a platform where the RuCo Action Council could delve into important topics such as reproductive justice, LGBTQ+ rights, sex education, advocacy, and organizing.
